Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club held its annual Discover Sailing Day off Town Beach and in front of they clubhouse at the marina on Sunday.
Club volunteers provided their time and boats to give aspiring new sailors a taste of Mandurah's yachting life.
The event proved very popular, with over 100 children and adults trying their hand at sailing. Flukey winds, a strong current and occasional dolphins added to the excitement.
"It was great to see so many people keen to get out onto the water,” club sailing captain Neil Dixon said.
"While there were some locals, there were also lots of people visiting Mandurah for the day."
Mr Dixon also said assistance received from the City of Mandurah in making the Town Jetty and beach available contributed to the success of the day. "Our dinghies will be back on Town Beach again for the CrabFest in March, and have proved very popular in the past."
Aspiring sailors can contact MOFSC at any time to Try Sailing.
