City of Mandurah Seniors and Community Centre has secured a state government grant to host celebrations for WA Seniors Week 2018.
Community groups and local governments across the state have been provided funding to offer a range of free events from Monday, November 12 to Friday, November 16.
Working closely with the Council on the Ageing Western Australia (COTA WA) and the Department of Communities, the City of Mandurah will also host one event each day as part of the week-long festivities.
To launch the week on Monday, there will be a morning tea with mayor Rhys Williams and elected members from 9-11am.
Bookings are essential for the free event which will recognise special seniors in the community and their contributions to the Peel region.
On Tuesday, Dance Fit 4 Life will give participants a taste test of the seven dance classes they offer, including Beat the Feet, HeartFit, Zumba Gold, Southside Line Dancing, Mandurah Ballroom Dance and Prime Movers.
Running from 1.30-3pm, bookings are essential to cater for the provided afternoon tea.
On Wednesday, November 14, the Variety Extravaganza Concert will offer a chance to see a talented and popular entertainment lineup.
The free show will feature local legends Eddie Storm, George Boyer, Kelly Green Just Us musical duo and Beat the Feet dance group.
The free concert will start at 1.30pm and is expected to finish at 3.30pm.
Mega Bingo will bring out the big prizes on Thursday with all community members invited to take part from 12pm.

The City of Mandurah Seniors and Community Centre is one of 78 community groups and local governments that have been awarded the funding through the Seniors Week 2018 community grants program, which promotes active ageing and encourages generations to learn from each other.
The program allocates grants of up to $3000 and is administered by the COTA WA, with support from the state government and Lotterywest.
Mandurah MP David Templeman said it was an important event for the Peel region.
“City of Mandurah Seniors and Community Centre’s event recognises the tremendous contribution that seniors make to our community.
“Seniors Week encourages all generations to come together so I hope everyone in our community is inspired to get involved.”
Seniors and ageing minister Mick Murray said Seniors Week was the time to acknowledge and honour older Western Australians.
“That is exactly what we’re doing with these wonderfully varied Seniors Week events,” he said.
“As a regional member of parliament, I am particularly pleased to see so many of these grants supporting events and activities in regional communities and I encourage all Western Australians, regardless of age, to get involved in Seniors Week.
“Each event will bring something to the people who organise it, their community and of course, the distinguished Western Australian seniors celebrated.”
