Peel duo Mitch Polglase and Ben Goodall will be looking to make a splash at Hockey WA’s FHE Cup when they take to the field representing the Ciriello’s Coaching Academy (CCA) at the upcoming tournament later this month.
The pair will help the CCA side take on domestic and international teams at the event, which was formed 11 years ago as a program to expose up-and-coming juniors to higher levels of competition.
They were chosen to the academy’s team after piecing together impressive applications for the squad, and will now be eager to help them notch their share of wins at the tournament playing two games over four days from November 22-25.
During their campaign they’ll come up against the likes of a Malaysian national team, WA’s state schoolboys side and opposing states.
Ben, who has already competed in three FHE Cups, said he expected the CCA side to make a promising run towards the finals.
“I think we’ll go well,” he said.
“We’ve got a pretty good team and everyone is a quality player, so we should be able to get some wins.”
Meanwhile Mitch heads into his first FHE Cup with the same hopes for success.
“It’s pretty exciting just to be playing in it so hopefully we can play well,” he said.
The pair play locally with Peel Hockey.
