The chase was on for victory during the stand up paddle board race on Saturday morning as part of the 2018 Australasian Police and Emergency Services (APES) Games.
It was a tight finish between first and second place in the men’s category with both athletes crossing the finish line in an impressive 20 minutes.
The thrilling event was one of the last on the schedule for day seven of the Games.
The day also featured open water swimming and surf lifesaving at Town Beach, soccer, hockey, netball and fire fighting competitions.

Held every two years, the games run across seven days and are a multi-discipline sporting event for serving, retired and volunteer members of police and emergency service agencies.
This year marks the 17th installment of the games, following successful events at the Sunshine Coast (2016) and Melbourne (2014).
