Mandurah Matters to me because, like most people that grew up here, it’s a part of my story. I have many great memories of being out and playing along our magnificent coast line, enjoying the national park and making cubby houses.
In fact one of the reasons that we moved here was because Dad wanted us to grow up in a place that was safe and secure, with a great sense of community.
This all still matters to me today and I want to make sure that we preserve this in the future.
I feel very fortunate to have had the chance to travel around to different places and that’s given me a comparison of other places in the world to Mandurah and also shows me what Mandurah could be.
I have never been to a place with as much potential as my home town and we are so lucky with what we have here.
One of the things that has become even more apparent to me throughout my first year as mayor, is that whilst we have so many reasons to love our City and the wonderful community that lives here, there is also huge potential to make the City even better.
One thing that I believe will make the City better is a shared vision outlining where we are heading and a focused plan for getting there.
This is why we have launched Mandurah Matters, a city-wide initiative to determine this shared vision for Mandurah’s future as well as an action plan to achieve it.
All residents, property owners, local politicians from all levels of government, community groups and leaders, stakeholder organisations, investors and businesses are encouraged to get involved and share what matters to them now as well as their aspirations for Mandurah’s future.
We are encouraging the whole community to play an active role, not only in defining the future vision for Mandurah but in working together to action those priorities, which will deliver the vision.
This is more than just your usual consultation process, the resulting vision will be owned and delivered by the whole community.
