Six sports associations across the Peel region will share $72,500 in state government funding.
Premier Mark McGowan made the announcement while attending cricket action at Sir Ross McLarty Oval in Pinjarra at the weekend.
As part of the 2018-19 Regional Grants Scheme, a handful of Peel-based grassroots sporting clubs will benefit.
These include the Peel Cricket Board, Peel Hockey, Netball WA (Peel), WA Basketball Federation (Peel), Peel District Football Development Council and Peel Regional Soccer Council.
Mr McGowan said local clubs in places such as the Peel region were so often the foundation of their communities.
“Peel is an already strong sporting region, and these grassroots grants will ensure local clubs are able to continue their great work developing local talent,” he said.
“This kind of local funding support helps make sure talented country athletes have decent opportunities to achieve in their chosen sport.
“It’s important we recognise the value grassroots sport brings to Peel communities - these sports clubs are often the cornerstone of the community.”
