A Mandurah man has pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing a cannabis grinder and a police officer’s hat, which he says was gifted to him by a friend.
Shaun Henry Collard also pleaded not guilty to assault when he appeared in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Police prosecutor Tamara Read told the court the Gang Crime Squad had searched Collard’s house on a drug search warrant, in the presence of his partner, when he was not home on February 1.
No drugs were found.
Following the search, detectives raided a storage unit by forcing entry and cutting the padlock.
Senior Constable Reid said they only found a metal cannabis grinder and a police officer’s hat.
Collard’s lawyer said the hat was of sentimental value to the father because it was a gift from a friend who died five years ago.
She said Collard was a member of the Coffin Cheaters bikie gang.
