City of Mandurah rangers have been named the best in the state at the West Australian Rangers Association’s 2018 annual conference in Perth.
This marks the second time the local ranger team has taken out top gong at the national conference, after claiming the title in 2016.
Representatives from the department were acknowledged by City of Mandurah’s councillors at their meeting on September 25.

Mayor Rhys Williams said he was proud the local team took out the award at the ceremony on September 19.
He thanked city rangers for their compassion and committed to finding a “win-win situation”.
“You don’t need the Power Rangers when you have our rangers,” Mr Williams joked.

According to Mr Williams, the local team’s ability communication effectively and to maintain positive relationships with WA Police and organisations such as K9 Rescue Group attributed to their win.
Ranger's responsibilities are wide and varied and include animal control, cat and dog registrations, impounded animals, littering, fire permits, fire control, abandoned vehicles, infringements, and parking.
