Hundreds will hit the riverbanks at Tatham Reserve in South Yunderup next month, as the Pinjarra Netball Association (PNA) holds its annual Alcoa Nets by the River event.
The beach netball competition at will encourage players aged 10 through to adults from across the Peel region to have fun in the sun and sand while playing the popular sport.
This event will cater to all abilities, from beginners to experienced netballers.
Attracting hundreds of participants and spectators, the event is expected to build on last year’s success.
Pinjarra Alumina Refinery’s community relations officer Stephanie Gardner said Alcoa was pleased to sponsor the event as part of the Alcoa Community Partnership program.
“The Alcoa Nets by the River competition is a great event for encouraging social inclusion,” she said.
“The competition promotes community health and safety by getting the community active, as well as contributing to the sustainability of the Pinjarra Netball Association.”
PNA president Elaine Reid said the event aligned with the association’s values of providing a safe and enjoyable environment that encouraged participation.
“Pinjarra Netball Association is excited to be hosting the Alcoa Nets by the River beach netball community event,” she said.
“It is a chance for everyone to come together, have a bit of fun and try something a little bit different.
“The support provided by Alcoa to the Pinjarra Netball Association will ensure a successful event and provide our club with the means to build a successful future,” Elaine said.
The two-day event is a mixed team only competition, and will be held on October 20-21.
