Peel residents risk disconnection as nbn rollout due before end of the year

Existing landline and internet services are due to be replaced from September to Decemeber in some properties in Falcon, Wannanup, Erskine, Falcon, Halls Head, Dawesville, Barragup, Coodanup, Furnissdale, Greenfields, Dudley Park, Greenfields, Mandurah and Pinjarra.

When nbn access becomes available in a region, residents and businesses have 18 months to switch over.

After this time, the previous copper network is decommissioned.

With the 18-month period culminating in the Peel region, residents and businesses need to contact their  telephone or internet provider to make the switch – or risk being disconnected.

Head of nbn Local WA Rachael McIntyre said it was important to remember the switch to an nbn plan was not automatic.

“While many homes and businesses in the Peel region have already signed up to a service over the nbn access network, it’s important for those who have not yet connected to know that making the switch is not automatic,” she said.

“To continue using your landline and internet services, you’ll need to contact your preferred phone and internet provider to place an order.

“If you have any special equipment that operates on your current landline, it’s important you talk with your phone and internet service provider to get the right support when moving across.

“You should also visit the nbn website to register devices such as medical alarms and lift phones, and find out more about business devices and services.”
