Mandurah and Pinjarra residents have taken to social media on Sunday afternoon after experiencing an ‘earthquake’ that some say shook their homes.
The Volcano Discovery website, which records tremors across the globe, states a 5.3 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Western Australia at 12.56pm.
The Australian Government Geoscience Australia website, which tracks earthquakes, was returning an error message shortly after the incident.
However, the organisation sent out a tweet stating a 5.6 magnitude earthquake occurred at 12.56pm in Walpole.
The Bureau of Meteorology’s Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre website shows that an earthquake was recorded at 1.07pm.
People have taken to Facebook to react to the tremor, with reports that it was felt as far south as Albany and up in Cockburn.
