History will be made when the Peel Football and Netball League Women’s teams take to the field for the competition’s inaugural finals campaign this weekend.
Pinjarra’s women will head into the finals on top after securing the minor premiership, but in a competition that can only be described as a roller coaster no clear favourite has emerged.
South Mandurah’s women were playing some spectacular footy before they were felled by Baldivis in the final game of the regular season, and could pose a real threat to the Tigers when they square off for a spot in the grand final this weekend.
The Falcons had pieced together seven straight wins, including handsome victories over Baldivis and Pinjarra, before the Brumbies put an end to that.
Now they’ll square off against the Tigers with a week off and a grand final berth at stake.
Meanwhile Baldivis – who finished in third just one win behind Souths – will be heavily favoured in their elimination final against the winless Dwellingup Razorbacks.
The Brumbies have had an up-and-down season with some strong wins and some dour losses, but they will be expected to overcome the Razorbacks in the win-or-go-home battle.
Pinjarra takes on Souths at Sir Ross McLarty Oval, Sunday, 1.30pm while Baldivis hosts Dwellingup in the same time space.
