The company that made the hyperbaric oxygen chamber in which a man had a seizure before later dying in a Melbourne hospital, says it no longer sells the units.
Former chiropractor Malcolm Hooper and his South Yarra clinic, Oxymed Australia, face a series of workplace safety charges over the death of Craig Dawson in 2016.
Mr Dawson, a wheelchair-bound sufferer of multiple sclerosis with epilepsy, had a seizure in a unit at the clinic and died a few days later in hospital.
Court documents show Mr Dawson had been undergoing twice-weekly, four-hour sessions at Hooper's clinic for 18 months and died following a cardiac arrest.
Hooper and Oxymed are accused of failing to notify WorkCover of the incident, failing to ensure the workplace was safe, and engaging in reckless conduct that placed others in danger.
Hooper is facing a committal hearing in Melbourne Magistrates Court to determine if he will stand trial on the allegations.
On Tuesday, Frank Zeigler - director of Professional Diving Services and Hyperbaric Australia - told the court his company had sold Hooper a chamber in 1996.
He described Hooper as "extremely" knowledgeable in hyperbaric medicine, certifying him as a highly capable student after training him.
"I wouldn't certify anyone unless I trusted them to treat my loved ones," he said.
Mr Zeigler added his company had stopped selling the units.
"We don't trust people who want them for a whole lot of reasons we can't explain."
According to court documents, Mr Zeigler attended Hooper's Chapel Street clinic after Mr Dawson's death to conduct a report as the chamber's manufacturer.
Mr Zeiger noted individual staff were not assigned to particular chambers, that a non-standard mask was being used in one of the chambers, and that TV screens had been installed in a way obstructing the view of an operator to a patient.
He said in his statement that Hooper had asked him to alter his report otherwise "he wouldn't leave me alone" and provided the wording he wanted him to use.
The hearing continues on Wednesday.
