Mandurah students passionate about animal welfare have launched a campaign to raise funds and awareness for the issue.
Recently, John Tonkin College students undertook a unique and interactive fundraising initiative as part of their advocacy.
An “Animal Photo Booth” was set up at the school, which gave students the opportunity to pose in front of an array of animals for a gold coin donation.
Students and staff brought along a range of furry, feathered and scaly friends including a snake, a bearded dragon, a chicken, a parrot and an assortment of cute dogs.

Among the animals were two horses and two Western Australia Police Force mounted officers.
Student development and support services officer Jane Derrell said the mounted police was a highlight of the event.
She said while a few pupils were nervous, the activity was well received.
The funds raised from the event will go towards K9 Rescue Group.
The Nambeelup-based not-for-profit organisation was established in 1990 to rescue, treat and rehome dogs, and to educate the community about responsible ownership.
Ms Derrell thanked the mounted police for their support in the school’s efforts to raise money for a worthy charity.
