The annual indoor chilli festival will shake those winter blues this weekend, bringing chilli eating competitions, hot condiments and an extra spicy menu to the Ravenswood Hotel.

The free event on Saturday, August 11 from 10am to 4pm will showcase sauces, jams and jerky from a number of fine Western Australian producers.

The popular chilli eating competition will kick off at 2.30pm.

On Wednesday evening, the ‘Hottest Burger in WA’ was on the menu as a prelude to the festival.

People gathered to try the Devil’s Double Down or watch others suffer from the extreme heat of the burger.

The burger is so hot customers had to sign a waiver and be over 18-years-old.

Ravenswood Hotel entertainment manager Dave Feenstra said the event was for everyone.
