A Meadow Springs man has been fined $5,100 after police discovered a set of great white shark jaws in his home.
Ryan Ashley Earl, 29, was charged with possession of a totally protected fish and entered an endorsed plea of guilty ahead of the matter coming before Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Department of Fisheries senior officer Darren Harbord said police executed a search warrant at his Meadow Springs home on December 12, 2017, where officers found the jaws.
Mr Harbord said Earl claimed he did not know where the jaws had come from, but they had been cleaned and mounted to a wall.
Earl was given a $5,000 mandatory fine, with Magistrate Anne Longden also issuing an extra $100 fine. He will also have to pay $190.85 in costs.
Earl did not appear in court as he is already in custody.
