Canning MP Andrew Hastie and Dawesville MP Zak Kirkup announced their full support of the proposed facility expansion by the Peel Thunder Football Club on Sunday.
The $9.599 million expansion announced by Peel Thunder on Saturday includes a Centre of Excellence for Sports Medicine, allied health facilities, imaging facilities, hydrotherapy, a centre for Curtin University students as well as important community facilities such as a seniors outdoor exercise park.
Mr Hastie said he would fight to secure significant federal government funding to help the project.

“Peel Thunder has consistently been working to build a stronger Mandurah and Peel region,” he said.
“It makes perfect sense that everyone should support the expansion of this facility – not just to benefit Peel Thunder but the broader community as well.
“I want to make sure that everyone gets on board with this.
“We need the City of Mandurah to step up, we need the State Government to step up – and I will do all I can to make sure we get a financial commitment from the Federal Government as well."
Mr Kirkup said it was clear that Peel Thunder was one of the most successful clubs in the WAFL league, and the expansion would have a broader community impact:
"Peel Thunder isn't just about footy, it's about our community too,” Mr Kirkup said.
“This expansion is going to have have massive benefits for Mandurah and the Peel, bringing with it excellent medical facilities which are sorely needed, as well as jobs during construction and operation.
"Peel Thunder should be applauded for their vision and tireless commitment to our community.
“I am proud to support the club and will work with Andrew and Peel to help make this vision a reality.”
