Local leaders have met with Mandurah man John Nye ahead of his charity ride around India.
Mr Nye will be attempting to create a new Guinness World Record by riding solo and unsupported across the four corners of India (about 14,000 kilometres) in 30 days or less, the current record is 34 days.
All the while, the Halls Head resident will be raising money for the Peel Youth Medical Services (PYMS) new Health Hub, which is due to open in late October.

Mandurah MP David Templeman, Dawesville MP Zak Kirkup and Mandurah mayor Rhys Williams were among those to see Mr Nye before he leaves Australia on July 31, commending him on his cause.
Its wonderful that John, who has been supported by our community in his time of grief, is now passing it forward by raising money for Peel Youth Medical Service whilst completing this ride, hes truly an inspiration, Mr Williams said.
Upon My Nyes return, Mr Kirkup is keen to discuss and look at ways to support Johns ambitions further through the creation and implementation of a local education program.
Mr Nyes initial trigger to keep challenging himself on a motorcycle, was to honour a shared dream to complete the Top gear Vietnam ride with his son Seb, who was tragically lost in a car accident in December 2010.
After living in Mandurah for almost 19 years, Mr Nye and his family have been supported by the community in their time of grief and understand the pain of losing a child.
As a community, Mandurah has experienced losing a substantial number of young lives for a multitude of reasons.
This type of loss has a knock-on effect on their siblings, friends and other family members.
Fundraising will continue until November 2018, accepting donations and support in any form.
