Roald Dahl’s family favourite George’s Marvellous Medicine is arriving at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre this month.
Get set for a show packed to the rafters with mischief, magic and mammoth laughs from the team behind Helpmann Award nominated Australian production of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes & Dirty Beasts, in a critically-acclaimed live show by Shake & Stir Theatre co.
What starts as just another boring day for George quickly turns into a marvellous experiment of gigantic proportions.
George can’t stand his Grandma. She complains all the time, she’s mean and she smells funny. On this particular day, Grandma is much more annoying than usual and George has had enough.
Wanting to teach her a lesson and put an end to her constant nagging, George concocts a special medicine, greater than any medicine in the history of medicines.
What he does not expect is that this medicine may actually work; just not in the way he thinks it will.
Director Ross Balbuziente said he was thrilled to bring another iconic Roald Dahl work to life.
George’s Marvellous Medicine was an absolute favourite of mine as a kid and still remains one of my cherished childhood books.

“George’s Marvellous Medicine was an absolute favourite of mine as a kid, and still remains one of my cherished childhood books,” he said.
“We are relishing this rare opportunity to adapt Dahl’s much-loved book for stage. Our aim to is get kids to laugh as hard as they ever have before; after all - laughter is the best medicine.
“It’s a rocketing, surprised-filled, hilarious adventure featuring some our country’s best physical and comic actors.”
Entertainment website Scenestr said the performance was “world-class”.
“...fantastic acting and wonderfully choreographed lighting and set design,” the review said. The show has recently graced the Sydney Opera House with sold-out seasons as well as the Queensland Performing Arts Centre and in New Zealand.
George’s Marvellous Medicine will lift the roof off the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre on July 20, at 1pm and 6pm.
Tickets are on sale now from www.manpac.com.au. The performance is suitable for ages six and older. The theatre company has warned the show contained haze, smoke, strobe effects and loud music.
