Falcon-based longboarder Zali Corry picked up third place at Surfing WA’s 21st annual Whalebone Longboard Classic in Cottesloe over the weekend.
The Mandurah Longboard Club youngster shone in one of WA’s most prestigious and iconic surfing events, finding her way to the top three.
Corry faced off against some stiff competition in the under 18 girls division, carving her way to a score of 6.37, good enough for third spot behind Queensland’s Emily Lethbridge (16.37) and Denmark’s Laura McEwen (7.67).
The third place finish comes on the back of a state championship win in May for the young gun, who continues to impress in the longboard format.
Surfing WA events manger Justin Majeks was ecstatic with the success of this year’s Whalebone Longboard Classic and the quality of the surfers who attended this years festival.
“The Whalebone continually attracts some of the world’s best longboarding talent to the shores of Western Australia,” he said.
“It’s been a great opportunity for our local talent to compete on home soil, in a professional event, alongside some of the best longboarders on the planet.”
