Five Peel Football and Netball League players had their outstanding Landmark Country Football Championships recognised with selection to their respective all-star teams over the weekend.
Team results may not have gone their way with each side finishing third in their division, but James Fenton, Matthew Bennell and Zac Moody (colts) along with Andrew Haydon and Mitchell White (division one) all put in stellar carnival’s to be named to the all-star teams.
Haydon’s selection follows on from a 2017 campaign that saw him claim an all-star jumper and the Jock Coleman medal as the carnival’s best player, with the South Mandurah product shining in this year’s championships for the Cavaliers.
Mandurah’s Mitchell White also earned a jersey in the side after being a vital part of Peel’s squad.
In the colts, Fenton, Moody and Bennell all shone as Peel took out third place after a spectacular comeback against the Northern Suns in their playoff game.
Bennell nailed three crucial goals in the final clash, and was consistent across the entire three days.
The Mandurah Mustang booted goals in every one of Peel’s games, finishing with eight across their four clashes.
Meanwhile Waroona’s Moody was spectacular in the middle of the ground for the colts side, earning a spot in their best players in two of the four games.
Fenton, the team’s captain, led by example receiving best afield votes in three of their four round-robin games.
Each of the players will now enjoy a week off as the Peel Football and Netball League enters the second of its bye weeks, before returning for round 13 of the local competition on Sunday, July 22.
