A local wildlife lover has urged the community to save abandoned joeys from roadkill as we enter ‘pinkie season’.
Coodanup’s Just Joey Marsupial Care co-founder Dot Terry asked drivers to check kangaroo pouches for joeys, and bring them to a local animal carer.

“If they could check that, and if there is, they should get it to a carer as quickly as possible, so it has a chance at life.”
Ms Terry said pinkie season ran to December.
The young joeys had to be bottle fed every two-hours.
“There is a lot of young animals coming in at the moment,” she said. “We are flat-out with these young ones.”
She said Just Joey Marsupial Care had qualified volunteers who were trained and licensed by the department.
