The City of Mandurah staff gathered last week to “walk the talk” and do something which they regularly encourage the community to do – plant trees.
Staff headed to Town Beach to plant more than 900 new trees.
Last year more than 600 community members planted over 30,000 plants during the community tree planting season which runs from late May to July.

The aim is to give the freshly planted seedlings as much winter rainfall as possible before summer hits.
“There are so many good reasons to plant new trees,” Mandurah Mayor Rhys Williams said.
“We know that one of the reasons our community loves living in Mandurah is our great environment, and making sure we continue to green where we live can only improve where we live.
“Being involved in community events also works to build social capital – we get to know each other in a positive environment and that makes for a kinder and happier place to live.”
The community can get involved by attending any of the local community events held in different locations throughout Mandurah.
To find out when these events are being held have a look at the City of Mandurah website – mandurah.wa.gov.au
One special event people are welcome to attend is the National Tree Day planting on July 29.
The event will see community members plant 7000 seedlings at Frasers Landing, Coodanup from 10am-2pm.
