A woman, in her 60s, has escaped serious injury after a crash in South Yunderup on Wednesday.
About 10am, the woman was travelling behind a Cleanaway garbage truck on South Yunderup Road near Yunderup Road.
The garbage truck was pulling into a driveway on the right-hand side of the road when both vehicles collided.
The woman allegedly tried to swerve away from the truck moments before impact.
The crash caused significant damage to the front of the silver Hyundai Accent when it connected with the truck’s rear right-hand side.
The truck wasn’t damaged in the incident.
An off-duty ambulance officer, who lived on a nearby street, was the first on the scene.
She attempted to help the woman who was covered in windscreen glass that had shattered across the front of the car on impact.
When Pinjarra Police officers arrived, they closed the road and direct traffic so that a St John Ambulance crew could treat the woman.
The driver was conscious and responsive when placed in a neck brace and on a stretcher.
The woman was taken to Peel Health Campus for precautionary measures.
