Baldivis returned to winning form when they held a gutsy Halls Head at bay to claim a 33-point win at home on Sunday afternoon.
Ben Higgs’ five-goal haul was the driving force on the scoreboard as the Brumbies put their first loss of the season in the rear view on their way to a 13.9 (87) to 7.12 (54) win.
Baldivis opened the game with a bang, putting four goals through the sticks before Halls Head could manage their first.
The Lightning would go on to rue their goalless first quarter, as they tried desperately to claw their way back into the contest after the first break.
Unfortunately for the visitors, Baldivis were able to extend their lead to a perfect five goals at the half time break, which became a 45-point buffer by three-quarter time.
The Lightning managed to boot three goals to the Brumbies’ one in the final term and minimise the damage to their percentage, but they were unable to conjure an upset with Baldivis boasting a 33-point victory.
Brendan Tingey put in another best-afield performance for the home side, while Higgs led the way in the scoring column with his five-goal bag.
Mathew Allen’s three goals led the way for the Lightning, while Mitch Royal and Robert Falkstrom put in stellar outings.
Baldivis will look to remain in winning form when they face Rockingham after a bye week, while Halls Head will be out to bounce back as they square off against Mandurah.
