A repeat burgling offender will spend two years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing valuables from Mandurah households, including a diamond ring worth $10,000.
Third striker Samuel Ted Nannup (44) was released from prison nine months earlier for similar offending, the District Court was told on June 5.
Nannup’s lawyer Robert Owen told the court the father-of-ten entered a Tuckey Street property through the back door during the New Years Eve fireworks on December 31, 2017, and stole items including a Toshiba laptop and Galaxy digital tablet.

The resident woke from the couch during the burglary and yelled at Nannup, who ran away and dropped most of the items on the front lawn, which were later damaged by the sprinkler.
The Coodanup man returned a sentimental ring stolen from the house when asked by police.
Mr Owen said Nannup suffered from loneliness after he left prison, and started taking methamphetamines.
District Court Judge Fiona Vernon took into account Nannup’s difficult background, early guilty plea and his remorse.
On top of the term of imprisonment, Nannup was ordered to pay $3,396 to the victim.
The prison term was backdated to January 4, 2018.
Nannup was given a three-month prison sentence, to run at the same time, when he appeared via video link in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Friday, June 8.
Police prosecutor Nev Palmer told the court Nannup stole a handbag containing two iphones, cash and keys from a car parked in an Oldgate Street driveway on December 6, 2017.
Nannup was ordered to pay $2300 compensation to the victim.
