Peel Hockey’s regular season was on a general bye for the WA Day long weekend, but that didn’t stop the hockey enthusiasts with the junior representative teams making their annual trip to Bunbury to participate in the South West Junior Hockey Carnival.
Peel Hockey were represented with three teams in school year age groups 7/8 girls, 7/8 boys and 9/10s.
With 143 teams competing overall, Peel’s squads gave a good account of themselves over the weekend playing against teams from all over the state.
The 7/8 girls, coached by Amanda Marwick, were the best performing team finishing fifth overall, followed by the 7/8 boys coached by Paul Cocker who finished eighth overall and the 9/10 boys coached by Peter and Melanie Mullins finishing 10th overall.
Hockey returns to the turf this week for Peel’s local competitions.
Peel Rebels 11/12 boys return to a top of the table clash against Rockingham at Lark Hill on Friday night and the men play at home against Newman Knights on Saturday afternoon.
All local clubs are still accepting new players.
