A Mandurah beach has been closed, and a surfing competition put on hold, after a shark was spotted on Saturday morning.
The large shark, of unknown species, was spotted by a member of the pubic 200 metres from the Dawesville Cut, just after 11am.
Pyramids Beach in Wannanup was closed as a result.
The local beach was set to host round two of the Woolworths WA Junior Surfing Titles on Saturday morning.
The competition has been suspended until the beach has been reopened.
The event had been conducting drone surveillance and has had two jet skis on the water all morning as a precaution.
