Coming off a number of wins in Perth, the Peel Region Rabbit Club will be holding it’s own rabbit show graced with a national judge.
Melbourne judge Heather Smith will travel to Mandurah for the event, scoring rabbits on their condition, fur and weight, among other things.
Peel member Melanie Machrill said the 2018 Rabbit Australian Extravaganza, held in Perth two weeks ago, was a great experience for rabbit enthusiasts.
“There were over 250 rabbits from all over Australia that bought their rabbits and about 60 competitors,” she said.
Peel’s Winter Wonders Rabbit Show will be held on June 16 at Coodanup Hall, and will include stalls, food vans and family orientated activites.
Ms Machrill said the club’s aim was to educate the general public on their rabbits and promote “happy rabbiting”.
“We’ll have a pet participation program at the show where we will show people how to clip nails, check teeth, ears and ask questions about the general health of their rabbits,” she said.
Ms Machrill said the many different varieties of rabbits kept her interested in the animal.
