Education Minister Sue Ellery visited three local schools on Wednesday, after Murray-Wellington MP Robyn Clarke advised her they needed attention due to the region’s population increase.
Ms Ellery visited Pinjarra Primary School, Pinjarra High School and Waroona District High School.
Ms Clarke said she invited Ms Ellery to visit the Murray schools because the area was a “growth region”.
“The predictions are that the numbers at these schools are going to explode in the next five to 10 years.
“We need to put measures in place now, to cater for that growth.”
Ms Clarke said she was lobbying for facilities for Pinjarra Senior High school.
“The minister and I have been having very long and engaging talks about that, so I thought it was best for her to come and see for herself,” she said.
Ms Clarke said it was “great” Ms Ellery visited the three schools. “She sees first hand, what me, as a local member, is explaining to her,” she said. “You can paint a picture, but without seeing it, it is very hard to get a real view of it.”

Ms Ellery said there was “lots of work to do” in the local schools.
“Robyn Clarke has asked me to visit her schools...she is really well connected with them and there’s lots of work to do,” she said.
“She wanted to show me what the schools are doing well and where they have needs, to make sure I stay connected.
“We’re making sure we’re giving teachers what they need, for the job they need to do.”
Ms Ellery said she regularly visited Western Australian schools.
“One of the really important things in my job is making sure I stay connected, and I hear from people on the ground about what’s working well in schools and what are some of the challenges,” she said.
