Six of the Mandurah Magic’s State Basketball League guns could find themselves donning all-star jerseys at the league’s annual all-star showcase this June.
Outstanding point guard Anita Brown, long-time legend Casey Mihovilovich and 200-game forward Bree Klasztorny are all up for selection in the women’s game, while star guard Shaun Stewart, highlight reel forward Jamal Shabazz and intimidating centre Chudier Pal are on the vote cards for the men’s clash.
Players are initially named to the voting ballots by the league, with the fans having final say on who takes part in the game.
The showcase pits the top talent in the northern end of the league’s district against those from the south, with a trio of Magic guns representing the southerners on the poll’s first returns.
Mihovilovich is raking in the fan votes in the early goings and currently sits as a starting guard in the South’s women’s team.
The star-studded veteran is no stranger to all-star games, having made an appearance in the clash seven times already with 2018 looking likely to be her eighth selection.
If the ballot’s first results are anything to go by, she will be joined by fellow Mandurah guard Anita Brown, who is currently named on the team’s bench.
Brown has enjoyed a stunning start to her time with the Magic, averaging 25 points per game (second in the league) and boasting a player of the week award for her performance in round four.
Pal rounds out the remaining Magic players topping the vote counts early, with the hulking shot-blocker sitting on the bench in the South’s men’s line-up.
Pal has been a force in the post for Mandurah’s men this year, recording double-digit rebounds in all games bar one and boasting averages of 15 points, 10.7 rebounds per game.
