Neuroscientist and educator Lyn Beazley has taken on a new role as patron of Halls Head College.
Ms Beazley brings her impressive experience to the position, including her role as former Chief Scientist of Western Australia from 2006-2013 and her former 2015 WA of the Year award.
She said she saw her new position as a “wonderful” opportunity to support the school, in particular, the science department.

“The students are very interested to study science...some have mentioned their interest in psychology and human biology,” she said. “There’s also a strong environmental focus.”
Ms Beazley said seventy five percent of new jobs would include Science, Technology, Mathematics and Engineering.
“But even if you don’t want to go down that line, you need to understand science to learn about climate change, whether you are going to vaccinate your children, whether you are going to eat genetically modified crops,” she said.
“These are all things where you need to have an opinion, and it needs to be informed.”
Ms Beazley said she would help the school reach it’s full potential.
“This school is absolutely working to do that, and I’m happy to be on the team.”
