John Butler had the community dancing and singing on Friday night, when he performed a free ticketed event in Pinjarra.
The event, organised by Pinjarra Connect, featured an energised Butler belting out tunes and strumming his guitar.
Pinjara Connect spokesman Alan Edgar said over 1500 locals and those from further afield, packed the natural amphitheatre under the Pinjarra suspension bridge on Cantwell Park, backed by the Murray River.
He said Butler spent his childhood playing in Pinjarra, and wanted to give back to the community – who snapped up the tickets in just a few hours.
“John was introduced by his high school music teacher who shared with the audience some delightful snippets from John's teenage years, and all were sworn to secrecy,” Mr Edgar said.
“Fans cheered, danced even developed a writhing mosh pit.
“Sharing the bill were dancing children from the local Noongar community, Ricky Green, Travis Green, Adam Springhetti and others.”
Mr Edgar mentioned thanked the Edenvale Historic Homestead for lending the 1956 Chevy truck which acted as the stage.
The event fell on the same weekend as Fairbridge Festival, allowing fans to watch the show then travel down the road four kilometres, to see other bands on their doorstep.
