Ocean Road Primary School raises funds for veterans

Ocean Road Primary School students have done their part for Australian veterans in the lead up to Anzac Day.

A handful of students made biscuits and sold them to teachers and students recently, raising about $650 dollars for registered charity Veterans 360 Australia.

The charity conducts assertive outreach, raising awareness and providing ongoing support for homeless veterans throughout Australia.

According to the organisation, on any one night it is estimated that about 3,000 Australian Defence Force veterans are sleeping homeless.

Furthermore, student councillors conducted the Anzac school assembly last week that was attended by parents.

Ocean Road Primary School teacher Rebecca Beatty said the highlights of the day were the year five and six students singing ‘I Was Only 19’ and RSL member Burt Mavrick’s address to students.
