Mandurah’s youth performance company have predicted the future of our coastal city in their new performance Walk With Me.
Ten performances from the RIPTIDE troupe will be performed at the 2018 Stretch Arts Festival, from May 2-6.
In an immersive mix of audio and movement, the performance will travel 250 years in to the future and see what lies ahead.

Walk With Me is devised and created by the Riptide ensemble, with direction from artistic director Katt Osborne.
Professional sound designer James Luscombe has created the audio, that audience members will experience through headphones as they are led around Dolphin Quay.
Original music is composed by Zal Kanga-Parabia, with design elements by Emily Stokoe.
Ensemble member Clea Purkis said exploring the unique mix of audio and movement had been an exciting and challenging process for the ensemble.
“Every new theatrical concept we explore allows us to grow as artists and having a chance to use our creativity in a productive way empowers us as young people in the community,” she said.
Ms Pirkis the work allowed the audience to actively engage in the performance.
“We began exploring the site specific form of the work at Stretch Festival in 2017, but with the help of the state government’s royalties for regions, we’ve been able to take the concept to a new level,” she said.
Riptide’s artistic director Katt Osborne said performance positions were open to non-ensemble members.
“This was an excellent chance for young people in Mandurah to get involved,” she said.
“That’s what Riptide is all about. Empowering young people and giving them a chance to grow in their community. It’s great to see young people using their creativity in such a great and innovative way.
“We can’t wait to share it with everyone.”
