The State Government has announced $350,000 towards shared use paths in the Shire of Murray to promote cycling in the region.
Transport Minister Rita Saffioti announced on Tuesday that a 3.1km shared path will be constructed for $125,000 along Pinjarra Road between Sutton Street and Murray Bend during the 2018-2019 financial year.
A second 2.96km shared path will then be constructed to the Kwinana Freeway overpass for $225,000 during the 2019-2020 financial year.

The two projects are part of a $6 million announcement to construct 37km of cycling and pedestrian paths over the next two years.
“Cities and towns with high levels of people riding their bikes enjoy a range of economic, environmental and social benefits,” Ms Saffioti said.
“Not only does cycling assist in reducing traffic congestion, it also helps to create more vibrant and welcoming communities which is a cornerstone of Metronet.
“This cash injection into WA’s bike network will help ensure infrastructure is continuous across local government boundaries and provide enhanced recreational, commuter and tourism cycling experiences for residents and visitors to WA.”
The funding is provided through the Perth Bicycle Network and Regional Bicycle Network grants programs, which assist local government authorities to plan, design and build important cycling facilities for their respective communities.
In the last State Budget, the McGowan Government allocated a record $129 million over four years towards improving WA cycling infrastructure, which will allow at least 95km of new cycling path to be built.
These latest allocations to local governments will go towards the construction of about 10km of new path in the metropolitan area and almost 27km of new path in regional communities.
