A 27-year-old Mandurah man, who was acquitted of killing a Halls Head father with a cricket bat when he was a teenager, pleaded guilty in court today for a separate assault.
Kyle Noel Hayward left the Mandurah Magistrates Court smiling and laughing on Friday after pleading guilty to assaulting Jared Moto on December 23, 2017.
He also pleaded guilty to disorderly behavior in public.
Hayward, who represented himself, asked to remand the charges until a pre-sentence report had been prepared for the magistrate.

Magistrate Anne Longden agreed and a sentencing date was set for May 15, 2018, in the Mandurah Magistrates Court.
Hayward told the court he had previously been charged with murder and assault.
Hayward was found not guilty on December 17, 2008, after an eight-day trial by jury in the Supreme Court, of murdering Jay Wragg with a cricket bat blow to the head, that caused the bat to snap in half.
The assault occurred in Falcon outside a petrol station in the early hours of March 11, 2008.
Mr Wragg died 10 days later from his injuries.
Whilst on bail for the incident and awaiting trial, Hayward punched a security guard in the face at Mandurah's Toucan Nightclub on September 21, 2008.
Facing court after the assault, Hayward was sentenced to six months in jail.
