Amana Living is planning to shake-up the future of aged care in the Peel Region, after announcing their acquisition of Settlers Meadow Springs Retirement Village in Mandurah from the Ingenia Communities Group.
The West Australian aged care provider is set to double the size of their operations and build a new “state-of-the-facility” for elderly residents in the region.
The village will be renamed Amana Living Meadow Springs Retirement Village and offer seniors the opportunity to live in the Peel region and to age in place.
Settlement took place on January 31.
The sale also includes an adjacent parcel of vacant land.
Chief executive Stephanie Buckland said the acquisition was part of Amana Living’s growth strategy and commitment to expanding its offering for WA seniors.
Ms Buckland tipped the expansion to take more than three and a half years and create more jobs both within Amana Living and for the centre’s construction.
Since stepping into the role a year and a half ago, Ms Buckland has set her sights on creating a strong future for aged care in the region.
She said one of the key requests from the former chief executive officer and staff was to review current estates and establish a growth strategy.
“Mandurah and the Peel region has a growing need for quality aged care services,” she said.
“That growth is only set to increase.
“This acquisition provides us with the opportunity to offer an integrated service hub which will include independent living units, residential care and a home care base.”
She said Amana Living had a good reputation in the region and she wanted to make sure the provider stayed relevant in the community.

Ms Buckland said staff were “faced with a fight” at their current facilities, Wearne House, because the building was “nearing end of life”.
She said the idea of redeveloping Wearne House was discussed however wasn’t decided as the desirable option due to its size and costs associated with the rebuild.
Currently Amana Living has 47 beds available for the elderly, whereas at the new centre the provider will be able to cater for 80 to 100 people.
“It’s just more viable from a financial prospective,” she said.
On top of the new nursing home, Amana Living will create additional retirement homes, catering for premium to budget requirements.
Ms Buckland said the provider aimed to invite current Wearne House residents to take up places in the new facility first.
Once Wearne House is vacant, Amana Living intend on selling the property.
Amana Living has commenced a consultation process.
