Pinjarra booked its spot in the 2018 Peel Premier League T20 grand final after finishing the round-robin stages with a 2-1 record and the best net run rate on Sunday.
The Tigers looked in trouble when they opened their PPL campaign with a loss to Warnbro, but they bounced back with victories over Singleton and Shoalwater Bay to buoy them to an early grand final berth.
Joseph Slade was outstanding with the ball across all three games for the top-ranked team, collecting six wickets at an efficient rate.
His efforts of 3/20, 1/11 and 2/7 led the way for the Tigers as they topped pool one at Stan Twight Reserve, along with a brilliant partnership between Jamie Lee (35 not out) and Craig Jones (32 not out) in their final game against Shoalwater Bay.
The duo’s unbeaten stands ensured Pinjarra took a win over the seals in just 7.4 overs, without losing a wicket, to finish on top.
Singleton wasn’t far behind the Tigers at Stan Twight, but their second round loss to Pinjarra cemented them in second spot and ensured they would have to win a preliminary final against Baldivis (who finished on top in pool two) before booking a grand final spot.
The Irwinians opened their PPL account with a win over Shoalwater thanks in large to a knock of 47 from Daniel Jones.
Pinjarra’s outstanding efficiency with the ball would prove to be their undoing in game two, but Singleton found a way to bounce back and claim their spot in the finals with a game-three win over Warnbro.
Baldivis owned pool two with a pair of wins against Mandurah and Hillman at Meadow Springs.
Eric Botha’s 70-run blast got the party started for the White Knights, helping the side to a 6/139 total in their first clash with Mandurah.
They would go on to defend their score courtesy of a stunning spell from Matthew Jordan, who took three wickets from just eight deliveries.
The side’s form remained solid in their game with Hillman, securing their place in the preliminary.
Singleton and Baldivis will now meet with a spot in the grand final on the line at Pinjarra Turf on Saturday, March 3.
