Positive feedback received from Mandurah’s Winter Wonderland event has prompted recommendations for council to continue the popular celebration.
The future of Mandurah’s Winter Wonderland event was considered at this week’s council meeting.
A report presented by the sustainable development director Tony Free on Tuesday, proposed that the council consider and vote for the event’s continuation at the council’s next meeting on December 19.
If the event is to proceed, there are a number of options council would need to consider.
One of which, is the event’s management.

According to Mr Free’s report, the 2017 event was outsourced and it recommended that council look to manage the celebration in-house until 2020, with the intent that it be outsourced in 2021.
Last year, the City of Mandurah engaged Spaced Out, a place activation organisation, to work with Mandurah Terrace business owners.
Both parties collaborated on business-driven solutions to increase activity and patronage during the partial Mandurah Terrace closure period for road works that linked the new traffic bridge to Mandurah Terrace and Pinjarra Road.
Last year’s event was held from August 4-27, and saw the Eastern Foreshore buzzing with a 18 metre by 24 metre open air authentic ice-skating rink.
About 11,000 tickets were sold and approximately $500,000 was spent by around 17,600 people attending.
