The Mandurah Surf Life Saving Club received a much-needed boost as they prepare for their summer patrols when they were presented with a new four-wheel-drive vehicle earlier this month.
Funded by the Peel Development Commission through a $50,000 pre-election promise from Mandurah MP David Templeman, the car will be used to help transport equipment and boost patrols as the club gears up to oversee both San Remo and Town beach this season.
Mandurah SLSC marketing officer Susan Allan said the vehicle would play a vital role in their patrols.
“It’s going to make things much easier for us in terms of transporting boards, or any surf life saving equipment across the beaches,” she said.
“We’re really thankful for it and it’s going to be a big part of our summer.”
This season will be the second the club has patrolled both beaches.
“To be watching both beaches is definitely a challenge but we’re looking to expand as much as we can because they’re obviously popular swim spots,” Ms Allan said.
“We managed it quite well last year and this new vehicle will help us out a lot going forward.”
