The Pinjarra Community Garden has been given a makeover thanks to workers at Alcoa’s Pinjarra refinery, who volunteered for a clean up as part of their Month of Service initiative.
Crew F employees from calcination moved a mountain of soil into the garden plots and assisted with a general clean up, while shift D employees from clarification helped mulch, mow, whipper-snip and place conveyor belting into the universal access garden bed area.
Alcoa has been a strong supporter of the community garden since its inception.
The Month of Service program is Alcoa’s signature volunteering event, held annually in the aim of getting employees involved in the community.
The community garden is open on Friday and Saturday mornings from 9am to 12 pm, located on Pinjarra-Williams Road next to Hotham Valley Railway.
Fully reticulated garden plots are available to lease.
