Dawesville MP Zak Kirkup is running a free Seniors Cyber Security Seminar on October 30.
The course will cover ways to protect yourself from phone and computer scammers and how to spot theft attempts, email stings and social media tricks.
“Every year, West Australian's lose millions of their hard earned money to online scammers and hackers,” Mr Kirkup said.
“More recently, there has been a spike of the more senior members of our community getting targeted online and via their smartphones.
“As local Member, I think it’s important to make sure that our community as a best protected as possible from these online threats, which is why I am hosting and organising this seminar with the security experts from the Council on the Ageing (COTA).
“I encourage all seniors in our community to get in touch with my office to RSVP and come along to what will be an important and informative seminar.”
The forum will run from 1.30-3.30pm at Halls Head Bowling Club, Sticks Boulevard, Erskine.
Participants are asked RSVP by Friday, October 27 to zk@kirkup.com.au or 9534 3200.
