A Mandurah woman who led police on a high-speed car chase earlier this year has been sentenced to serve eight months behind bars.
Sheree Tammy Curedale, 42, pleaded guilty in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday to a string of charges arising from the June incident which saw her reach speeds up to an estimated 180km/h on Pinjarra Road.
The charges included reckless driving, failing to stop, driving under suspension and driving an unlicensed vehicle.
The court was told Curedale was spotted driving a car without a rear registration plate by police at 11.17pm on June 9 on Pinjarra Road,
Officers activated their lights and sirens in an attempt to get Curedale to pull over, but she accelerated heavily.
Police reached 140km/h during the subsequent pursuit, with Curedale estimated to have been driving at speeds between 160-180km/h.
During the chase Curedale, who was driving an unregistered vehicle without a licence, ran a red light before finally coming to a stop on Coolibah Avenue.
The prosecutor said she tried to run away from police, but was arrested nearby.
Tuesday’s conviction for driving under suspension was Curedale’s sixth.
At the time of her most recent offences she was on a suspended prison term for driving under suspension.
Magistrate Anne Longden said Curedale’s reckless driving offence was “very serious”.
“Your actions on that night put your safety at risk and the safety of others [at risk],” she said.
The magistrate said it was “tragic” Curedale’s children would be without their mother for a period of time.
Curedale was taken into immediate custody.
She was made eligible for parole.
