Peel Cavalier Courtney Lakay has taken out the WA Country Football League’s West Coast Poly player of the week award after an outstanding showing at the Landmark Country Football Championships over the weekend.
Lakay can be spotted in a red and black Waroona Demons jumper most weeks, but swapped it for a teal one over the weekend as he led the Peel Football and Netball League to a second consecutive Landmark division one flag.
His blistering performance at the carnival saw him awarded with an all-star jersey and the medal for best on ground in the grand final against the South West.
Lakay has been in terrific form for the Demons this season, and is the second Peel Football and Netball League player to get the nod for the player of the week honours.
He follows on from South Mandurah spearhead Brad Holmes, who received the accolade after a 10-goal haul in round nine.
Lakay now goes into the running to be named the West Coast Poly Player of the Year with the winner receiving a trip for two to this year’s AFL grand final.
The Peel Football and Netball League is the only competition to produce two player of the week awards so far this season.
