Bushy Bear might just look like an ordinary mascot, but the secret truth it has a superpower unlike most others – the gift of saving lives.
As the students and staff of Jarrahdale Primary School discovered this week, Bushy is not only super cute but also does what WA’s 26,000 volunteer bush fire brigade members do so well – increase community resilience and raise awareness of the dangers and avoidance of bush fires.
While at Jarrahdale, Bushy also spoke to the children about “stop, drop and roll”, “get down low and go, go, go”, the “meter from the heater” rule and when and how to call 000.
As you can see from the photos below, the boys and girls enjoyed learning about these potentially life-saving tips and tricks.
The Association of Volunteer Bushfire Brigades would like to thank and congratulate Jarrahdale PS and Bushy Bear for providing another no-for-profit community service.
