Both the Lakelands and Secret Harbour shopping centres will be opening their doors next week, bringing new big retailers to the region and holding plenty of events for keen community members.
Here’s all you need to know about both shopping centres.
Lakelands Shopping Centre
The first stage of the development will officially open at 8am on June 21 with big retailers such as Coles, Kmart, Aldi and Coles Express, and other specialty stores opening their doors.
On the day, there will be prizes and giveaways outside of Kmart from 9am to 12pm for attendees, as well as facepainting, magician performances, raffles and a colouring station inside the store.
At 10am on June 22 , the centre will announce the winners of their Local Heroes competition with a celebration cake from Sandy’s Cakes.
And from 6pm to 9pm, a Food Truck Park event will also take over the precinct, including entertainment, live music and exotic food options for all ages.
The event will feature the food trucks Fish Boss, What the Flip!, Bantastic Mi and I’m a Soul Van.
Throughout the week, there will be entertainment and live music performances at the shopping centre as well as competitions to win a car and a $500 shopping centre gift card.
Two interactive playgrounds will also be set up for the occasion and will be available for young community members to play at until the end of the school holidays.
The centre will also set ambient lighting at the main town square area of the precinct on the evenings on the evening from June 21, 24 and 29 and July 1.
“Once complete, Lakelands will be the biggest retail and community hub between Rockingham and Mandurah,” a centre spokesperson said.
The centre will also feature a City of Mandurah library and community centre to service Mandurah’s northern suburbs, which is set to open later this year.
Secret Harbour Square
Following a $63 million facelift, Warnbro MLA Paul Papalia and City of Rockingham mayor Barry Samuels will officially open Secret Harbour Square on June 23.
The event will start at 9.30am and will include the opening of Aldi, Coles and 30 new specialty stores.
As part of the opening celebrations developer Charter Hall will give a $20,000 donation to the Secret Harbour Surf Lifesaving Club, and Bendigo Bank will give customers who spend $50 or more the chance to win $10,000.
Coles will also be holding a Community Carnival from 4.30pm which will include fireworks and entertainment for all ages.
The new centre will feature medical centres, banks, pharmacies, surf shops, clothing retailers, newsagents, travel agencies, and cafes and restaurants such as Subway, Jamaica Blue, Funky Mexican Cantina, Dome, Health Freak Cafe and Sapore Gourmet Pizza among others.
“The new centre offers shoppers more choice, whether in retail shopping, banks, medical services or food and beverage options,” Charter Hall head of retail development Yvette Keatings said.
“Everything they need and want is quite literally under one roof and that is really important in terms of convenience.”
