Shooters at the Peel and District Gun Club will have the chance to learn from a pair of Olympic-level coaches when the club hosts a women’s and juniors clinic this weekend.
World champions and elite-level coaches Russell and Lauryn Mark will be passing their wealth of knowledge onto club members across the two-day event.
Peel and District Gun Club president Greg Walker said it was a coup for the local clay target shooters.
“This is a first for the Peel region. Russell and Lauryn are both the top of their field so it’s a huge coup for our club to have them come and coach our members,” he said.
“Events like this would usually be held at WA’s premier shooting range, Whiteman Park, so to get it locally is a big thing.”
The clinic, supported by the WA Clay Target Association and Department of Sport and Rec, will see the club showcased to the community.
“The event is for people to come and have a look and explore more about our sport,” Walker said.
“Anybody interested is encouraged to come down and check out what it’s all about.”
The event will be at the club’s grounds located at 579 Old Bunbury Road, Coolup.
