True to their name, Ocean Road Primary School has always had a strong connection to the coastal environment.
Every year since the school opened they have put aside a day to take students down to the beach and participate in activities that teach safety, fitness and fun.
“It’s promoting our lifestyle of sun, enjoyment, the beach, the salt water, and playing with your friends in a nice non-competitive environment,” health and phys ed teacher Adam Freshwater said.
Throughout the morning at Avalon Beach the 350 students present rotated through different team-building activities both on the shore and in the water.
“It’s a big job but we’ve got parents helping out, we’ve got teachers, education assistants, the principal is here, it’s a whole community event, that’s what the best part is,” Mr Freshwater said.
