The 2016 Acton Mandurah Pat Thomas House Charity Golf Event held at The Cut last month raised more than $38,000 for children’s counselling services at the Mandurah women’s refuge.
Pat Thomas House board chairperson Jill Mather said: “Over the past three years The Cut has raised more than $70,000 for Pat Thomas House”.
“This is an amazing result thanks to so many supporters giving their time and money.”
Mrs Mather said the refuge was opened 30 years ago this month, and “not once have we been able to think we are no longer needed”.
“In fact our services are in even greater demand,” she said.
The Cut operations manager Jodie Budworth thanked all event sponsors.
“We are so lucky to have such generous local business and members in our community,” she said.
“Andros Jewellers donated a stunning ½ carat diamond which raised $4000 at auction, the Flight Centre trip to Mauritius raised $6500 and this year Mandurah Toyota donated a $30,000 vehicle as a potential hole-in-one prize.
“Unfortunately no one took it home on the day but there’s always next year.”
She said The Cut’s goal for next year’s charity golf day on November 24, 2017 would be $40,000.
Ms Budworth encouraged people to support local businesses which support local charities.
